CHRISTMAS came early for the SOS Children’s Village when Lesotho Flour Mills (LFM) donated maize meal packages in Maseru recently.

The initiative was also meant to promote their new Mother’s Choice maize meal brand.

LFM sales and marketing representative Joshua Leballo implored Basotho to support the brand as it comes from an organisation that also supports local producers of grain. He said the support would also enable the company to give back to the community.

“LFM prides itself in buying from local farmers the maize and wheat that we use to produce our products,” Mr Leballo said.

“The new Mother’s Choice has a Buy Lesotho sticker because we buy and produce locally. Therefore, buying our products means helping those in need because we get to give back to the community like the SOS Children’s Village.”

Mr Leballo said they recently entered into a partnership with the SOS Children’s Village to provide the home with flour and maize meal packages monthly for the next 12 months.

“However, I must point out that today (Friday’s) ceremony is not part of the monthly donations.”

For her part, SOS Children’s Village fund development coordinator ‘Mahlompho Mapalane, expressed gratitude for the assistance.

“We are thankful for this initiative by the Lesotho Flour Mills because they have met us half way in feeding the 91 children who stay here.”

The event was graced by different stakeholders among them the Lesotho Chefs Association, Maseru Cash and Carry Store, Bantu Football Club and the Ministry of Small Businesses, Cooperatives and Marketing among others.

Gospel singers Paul Lewake, Khahliso Mphephoka, Mosito Sentšo and veteran famo musician Puseletso Seema entertained the guests.
