MASERU — Three of Lesotho’s top DJs have put the country on the entertainment map after performing at a festival in South Africa last week.
DJ Hally, DJ Dallas T and DJ Tseko took part at the Mangaung African Cultural Festival (Macufe) in Bloemfontein last Sunday.
Papi Lapie, the promotional and marketing manager of Macufe, was impressed by the trio.
“They have put Lesotho on the map,” Lapie said.
“They really rocked the show.”
Dallas T, born Leballo Tello, said the show was really great.
He said the crowd could not stop screaming and applauding when they were on stage.
Dallas T said he had learnt a lot from international DJs who were part of the show.
The Basotho jockeys performed alongside internationally-acclaimed entertainers such as DJ Rocco and Martin East.
“I respect their professionalism,” Dallas T said.
“We were more or less the same on stage, however.”
Halerekoe Moshoeshoe, popularly known as DJ Hally, said he really enjoyed the show.
He said they had learnt some creative techniques of organising shows.
“There were two stages at the same time,” he said. “We will adopt their methods in Lesotho.”
He said the DJs from Lesotho rose to the occasion.
“Everybody was perfect,” he said. “We represented Lesotho well, I believe.”
DJ Tseko, whose full name is Tseko Mamonyane, said he had enjoyed a “great show”.
“It was very fantastic,” he said.
He said they were not overawed by the presence of international DJs.
“They performed well, and we also did well,” he said.
He said all the DJs who were scheduled to perform at the show made it, unlike what normally happens at many events in Lesotho.
