MAMOIPONE Rankoe from Upper-Thamae in Maseru yesterday won a brand new Toyota Etios vehicle in the 2016 Vodacom Mega Millions competition.

Motlatsi Hae, who hails from Thabana-Morena, Ha-Khobotle in Mafeteng also won the hatchback vehicle at yesterday’s draw held at Sefika Complex in Maseru.

Under the Mega Millions competition, which was launched in March, the telecommunications giant’s customers stand to win a variety of prizes worth over M5 million.

The campaign is set to run until 30 September 2016 with Vodacom Lesotho contract, prepaid or top up customers able register for the trivia-based competition by sending a text message of the word “Mega” to 54100.

The customer would then receive a series of multiple choice questions via the SMS platform on a daily basis with each costing M1.

According to Ms Rankoe, she regularly responded to the trivia questions with the hope of improving her chances of winning in the competition.

“I kept SMSing every time I had airtime and hoped for any prize that would come my way. When I was in told on Friday that I had been selected for the draw, I became nervous but I then decided to put my trust in God,” she said.

“I am so happy today and I thank Vodacom because I didn’t expect to win such a big prize.”

Ms Rankoe said the car had come at an opportune time since she was working towards getting a driver’s licence.

“This car came at the right moment because I am undergoing driving lessons. Soon I will be done and able to drive my new car,” she said.

For his part, Mr Hae was lost for words saying: “I don’t believe this and I don’t know how to explain what I am feeling right now.”

The retired teacher said he had only participated in the competition once and was pleasantly surprised to win the car.

Meanwhile, other lucky Basotho took home monetary prizes and cellphones from yesterday’s draw.
