MASERU — Damario says he postponed the release of his first solo album because of the football World Cup taking place in South Africa.
He had announced the album, titled Manong: Pain and Chains, would be on the market in May.
But the talented musician, born Lethapa Tikiso, said he had decided to hold back the release of the album until after the month-long World Cup which ends on July 11.
“I had planned to release my first album in May but realised the World Cup would hinder my marketing strategies,” he told Xpress People.
“So I figured I should just wait until the 2010 soccer tournament is over before hitting the market.
“With the excitement generated by the World Cup I realised no one would want to waste their time attending local promotional shows instead of watching the soccer matches.”
Damario said he was continuing with his preparations for the launch of the album after the tournament.
“I am already busy printing T-shirts to be sold so as to boost my promotional campaign towards the release of the album and to familiarise myself with fans and my potential market.”
The 14-track album has songs such as My Journey, It’s Too Late and Forever Young.
The likes of Lakzen, Coke, Lerumo la Koebe and Tshedi are featured on the album which is already playing on Joy FM and Thaha-Khube FM, among other local radio stations.
Damario fell out with his Lefate partner Stlofa last year and the latter has already released his own solo album.
