DESPITE releasing their debut album Nalane as recently as May this year, hip hop group D2AMAJOE are already put the finishing touches to their next project.
The group’s spokesperson, T.I.E.H.O, revealed that one of the members, Tšepe “Nthoethata” Motopela, is set to release a mixtape this week titled Nthoethata Tape for fans’ benefit this festive season.
“After releasing the track L’Afrique Sans Frontieres for free downloading online, as a build up to the release of the video, we have not looked back since,” he said.
“The aim is to have our fans accustomed to downloading our music as the idea is to eventually have it available for sale online.”
D2AMAJOE released the hit single L’Afrique Sans Frontieres (Africa without borders) earlier this year, the first single of the album Nalane. They promised to release the Nalane album only after L’Afrique Sans Frontieres got 10 000 downloads from the internet, a milestone it reached on 16 May this year, prompting them to honour their promise.
Following the 15-track album’s release, D2AMAJOE held a promotional tour in Lesotho as well as South Africa’s Free State province. Since then, they have shared the stage with the likes of South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest and also involved in the Mangaung African Cultural Festival.
T.I.E.H.O also intimated that the video for Nalane will be released in December.
D2AMAJOE has become renowned for being one of the most versatile groups in Lesotho. They have varietated the musical offerings by rapping in different languages including French.
The group was also expected to perform at The Kome Caves Beer Festival alongside South African-Mozambique group 340 ml, and American House music group, Tortured Soul among others. D2AMAJOE is also billed to perform at the Vodacom Summa Feva on 19 December.
