MASERU — Stand-up comedian Curaman will on Friday team up with psychotherapist Tšepiso Sesioana to cheer up troubled couples.

The duo will host a show dubbed Couple’s Night at Lehakoe Recreational Club fusing counselling and comedy.

The night will also see DJ Alex behind the decks and Rabotso le Semanyane performing live.

Cura told Xpress People that Couple’s Night is meant to revive love between couples and discuss tips on how to maintain healthy relationships.

“This show will have Ntate Sesioana offering free marriage counselling for couples, whether they are married or planning to get engaged,” Cura said.

“From his therapy, I will step in and do what I do best to keep people in stitches,” he said.

The comedian said the event will be unique. “The event unlike all the others we have organised in the past is targeted at people in relationships. It will not be all about comedy but life experiences.

“We want to give people the gist of counselling in a relaxed session,” he said.

Sesioana told Xpress People that he will ensure that he creates a participatory mood during the event.

“I will touch on stereotype social beliefs that seem to be ruining relationships today and ensure people participate,” he said.

“The session will be more fun but very informative. I am looking foward to changing people’s attitudes.”

Sesioana said he would talk about five core fields that lead to unhealthy relationships.

“I will look into disappointments, conflicts, extra-marital relationships, in-laws and finances,” he said.

He said he had learnt that couples carry a heavy baggage of stress from both families and work so “the night will help them deal with different issues and curb a lot of stress”.

“It’s in rare cases that couples go out to have fun and loosen up. Fridays should be utilised to not only learn how to deal with conflicts but revive the love spark,” Sesioana said.
