THETSANE-BASED Dona@Balos Restaurant on Friday commemorated African Women’s Month in style by hosting a food and wine pairing gala.

The event saw foodies being treated to a four-course meal with each dish served with Nederburg wines to highlight the combination of food and drink in the culinary experience.

Addressing guests, the restaurant’s co-owner and wife of award-winning Chef Donald, Limpho Moletsane, said the event was meant to celebrate women whilst also promoting the use of wine when eating.

“August is women’s month, so today we are celebrating all the women who work hard on a daily basis as the caregivers of their families while also pursuing different careers,” she said.

“The best way to celebrate women is through food and wine, so today we are going to introduce how they are best served together.

The restaurant was officially launched on 30 July 2016, as a platform for Dona@Balos School of Culinary Arts and Catering students to apply what they would have learnt while also promoting tourism through food.
