THE senior national team has started preparing for the Africa C qualifiers set for Malawi in May this year.

The 30-man provisional squad commenced training last Sunday at Lesotho High School.

Lesotho Cricket Association (LCA) media liaison officer Clifford Molefe said the team will later be trimmed to 14 players who will make the trip along with five members of the technical team.

“The team has already started preparing for the Africa C qualifiers with a provisional squad of 30 players,” Molefe said.

“The team will train only on weekends and will later be trimmed to 14 players.”

Molefe said they are aiming to qualify for a higher rank.

“We are looking forward to qualifying to the next level of continental cricket and we can do that by doing well in the upcoming qualifiers.”

Molefe is confident that they will do well this time around since they started their preparations on time.

“In previous years, we always started our preparations late but this year I think we have the potential to do better.

“We are planning several friendlies with the Free State Cricket Union in Bloemfontein as part of our preparations as well,” Molefe said.
