MASERU — Lesotho’s Let’s Get Physical Aerobics Club will host its annual international aerobics marathon in Maseru on December 5.
The marathon is expected to attract participants from South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and hosts Lesotho.
Organisers say they will also use this year’s event to honour Teboho ‘Setobolane’ Thomas, the late-founder of Let’s Get Physical Aerobics Club. Officials from the Ministry of Gender & Youth, Sports and Recreation are expected to grace the event.
Let’s Get Physical Aerobics Club will also be celebrating its 10th anniversary on the day of the marathon.
Club manager ‘Mabokang Thomas told the Sunday Express they have decided to give this year’s marathon a new shape.
“The marathon will take a different shape in order to honour and pay special respects to the late Mr Thomas,” she said.
“The other purpose of the marathon is to mark the 10th anniversary of the club, while promoting aerobics in the country. It also seeks to cement the friendly relations that exist between Let’s Get Physical Aerobics Club and other clubs in Africa.”
Thomas also announced participants are expected to travel to Mafeteng, immediately after the marathon.
“The marathon, which is expected to last five hours, will be followed by a trip to Mafeteng, where participating clubs and interested individuals will pay a courtesy call on the Thomas family and say a prayer over his grave,” she said.
