Brewery honours outstanding staff, distributors

THE Maluti Mountain Brewery (MMB) honoured its sales representatives, retirees and distributors for their contribution to the company’s success, during an MD Sales Awards gala-dinner held at a local hotel on Friday last week.
In his speech, the MMB Managing Director, Tom Mpedi, said the recipients of the awards had shown great improvement in their respective fields.
“We are expressing our gratitude for the contributions they have made in the company; we appreciate the efforts.
“We hope that we make a difference in our distributors’ lives. We are also celebrating some of our retirees and thanking them for their service,” Mr Mpedi said.
A former MMB employee, Lechesa Tikiso, who was also honoured at Friday’s dinner-gala, said his devotion to his work had carried him through the 27 years he spent at the company.
Mr Tikiso was one of the three retired MMB legends who were presented with awards for their commitment to the company.
“We went through rigorous trainings to get to where I was when I left the company,” Mr Tikiso said.
He warned the sales representatives to give the best service to their customers, be disciplined and steer clear of temptations.
“I warn the younger generation to listen and focus. You should create good relations with your customers.
“Know your customers by name; arrive on time for your appointment and give apologies when you are held up somewhere and cannot make it on time,” he said.
“It is not an easy task but it is possible. Being a sales rep is temping and challenging when you get beer-offers from your customers.
“You need to have discipline.”
Mr Tikiso further advised the sales representatives to always be respectful and polite to their customers.
“There should be mutual respect between you and your customers. You are the image of the company when you are out there. You are the managing directors in your own territories.”
Meanwhile, the biggest winners of the night were Morero Chaole who won the Sales Rep of the Year award. The award came with a cash price of M10 000.
Quick Serve Distributors from Qacha’s Nek walked away with the Distributor of the Year away which came with M24 000 worth of beer-stock.
