KING Letsie III received a pregnant cow from Metropolitan Lesotho as a belated birthday present at the Royal Palace at Matsieng on Friday.

His Majesty turned 54 on 17 July and the birthday celebrations were held last Monday at Seeiso Leshoboro stadium in the Mafeteng district.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, His Majesty said Metropolitan Lesotho’s gift demonstrated the insurance giant’s love and commitment to the country.

“I am very grateful to metropolitan for this gift, I look forward to milking, and enjoying sour milk,” His Majesty said.

“This is not the first gift I have received on my birthday from Metropolitan Lesotho and this shows that they really care about Lesotho and Basotho.”

For his part, Metropolitan Lesotho Managing Director, Nkau Matete, said they realised that His Majesty liked the cow when he saw it at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) fundraising event in April.

“We had realised that His Majesty liked this cow during the NUL fundraising programme,” Mr Matete said, adding, they were confident this would be a pleasant surprise to His Majesty if he received it as a birthday present.
