Basotho arrested for double murders in SA

Maseru — Welkom police arrested two Lesotho nationals Bokang Makhakhane (29) and Hlalele Leeto (31) for a double murder committed on September 2.

The suspects were arrested three days after committing the crime and have since appeared before the Welkom magistrate court where their charge was read to them and will re-appear before the same court for bail
application on September 26, this year.

Captain Steven Thakeng of the Welkom police said the suspects were arrested in Mandela Park on September 5 after fatally shooting and killing two Lesotho nationals (men) whose abandoned bodies were found in the disused St Helena Mine on September 2, this year.

Captain Thakeng explained that after their arrest, the suspects led police officers to Kutloanong, Odendaalsrus.

At Kutloanong police officers used sniffing dogs to locate the suspected murder weapons (firearms). Two firearms a Norinco and Zektor were found hidden under a room divider.

The suspects are still in custody while police investigations continue. — Lena
