THE second round of the Lesotho Basketball League will resume on Friday at Lehakoe Club after a lengthy Christmas holiday break.

Lesotho Basketball Association (LBA) Public Relations Officer, Ratšolo Molupe, told the Sunday Express the league will recommence on Friday.

“Our men and women’s teams will be back in action on Friday and we are working to ensure everything is in place for the second round,” Molupe said.

“The senior men’s teams will continue to play conference games before entering the inter-conferences and, finally, the play-offs.”

He said the ladies’ team would also use the same format before playing the Top 4 finals that will decide the championship, while their six development teams will play each other in a round robin system.

Molupe also said they have arranged for two South African teams to visit the country to play against the local sides.

“There is a possibility of us hosting the Rookies OG Ballers and Free State Warriors as they play against our teams in the upcoming months,” he said.

Meanwhile, the LBA is also set to elect a new executive committee this month.

Molupe said the current administration had “done well” in transforming basketball in the country, but there was still a lot of room for improvement.

“There is no doubt that there has been a lot of progress under the current leadership. Unfortunately, our term has come to an end and we have to elect a new committee,” he said.

“You can never know if people are happy with what we have been doing, but if they are happy, then they will elect us to continue with the work.”
