BANTU has signed former Polokwane City attacking midfielder Thabang Klass.
The left footed attacker arrived in the country last week and has already been training with the team until signing yesterday.
Klass, whose team was last season relegated from South Africa’s top flight league, is expected to boost the defending champions’ squad.
Bantu president technical Panyane Phiri said they were targeting a clean sweep of all trophies on offer in the 2020/21 Econet Premier League season and Klass would come in handy.
“We have signed Klass from Polokwane City and he has already been training with the rest of the team and is even playing in a friendly today (yesterday),” Phiri said.
“For some personal reasons we have agreed that we won’t reveal the length of his contract but he is here for long.”
Phiri said they are this year targeting to reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League and make a clean sweep in all the domestic cups.
“Last time we went to CAF we fell just short of reaching the group stages of the tournament and this year we are targeting to go further. On the domestic front we want to defend our title and are also targeting to win all of the domestic cups.”
Klass is bringing his vast experience given his exposure in the more developed DStv Premier League in South Africa, Phiri said.
“There is no doubt that he is bringing vast experience to the cub given that he is coming from one of the continent’s best leagues. We are confident that he will help us reach our goals.”
The Sunday Express is also informed that Bantu is on the verge of sealing a deal that will see Johannes Molapo returning to A Matšo Matebele from Kick4Life. But Phiri was reluctant to comment on the matter.
“What I can only tell you is that we are still searching for a center back and yes, Molapo was one of our targets but there is really nothing we can talk about now,” Phiri said.
