FOUR time Independence Top4 champions, Bantu and LCS will bring Maseru to a standstill when they face-off for the M200 000 first prize in the final at Setsoto Stadium this afternoon.

A Matšo Matebele were the first to book their spot in the final by dismissing Kick4Life 2-1 courtesy of goals from Tsietsi Motšeare and Litšepe Marabe. Kic4Life got their consolation through second half substitute, Tšiu Moorosi.

The second semifinal between last year’s winners, Lioli and LCS had to be decided on penalties after a goalless stalemate in normal time. LCS subsequently outgunned Lioli 5-3.

The runners-up will pocket M100 000 with the third and fourth-placed teams getting M70 000 and M50 000 respectively.

Bantu coach, James Madidilane, was not pleased with his charges’ performance despite the win.

“We didn’t have a good game because we failed to play according to our plan despite the win,” Madidilane said, adding, “But it’s now water under the bridge and we have to plan for the final”.

“They (LCS) are a very strong and organised team and they always gives us a tough time. The match will be a test to see whether we are ready for the CAF Champions League and to defend our league title.”

In his post-match interview, LCS coach Mpitsa Marai said he was impressed with his players’ performance against Lioli, adding, they would face Bantu with their heads high as they sought to end their six year-trophy drought.

“It was a tactical game and I am happy with how we played although we failed to score within 90 minutes. But it is not yet over because we are still to play one of the toughest opponents.

“The match will not be an easy one but we have to win to end our trophy drought,” the former Likuena defender said.

“A final is a motivation in itself and it pushes every player. We only have to help our players to recover from today’s match. Everyone is hungry for silverware so the players will have to work hard.

“We need to avoid putting the players under too much pressure and most importantly, we have to make sure we don’t let today’s win get to their heads.

“We just need to switch on our minds and be ready for the game.”

Lioli and Kick4Life will clash in the third and fourth place play-off 1pm. The final will follow thereafter.
