Bantu extends lead

DEFENDING premier league champions, Bantu, registered a hard-fought 1-0 win over bitter rivals, Lioli, on Thursday at Setsoto Stadium.

The win helped the Mafeteng side stretch its advantage in the league table by six points.

This was Bantu’s eighth straight win this season, the only side with such a feat in the Vodacom Premier League.

Lazola Tjokotjokwane scored for the leaders.

Lioli, on the other hand, dropped two places into fourth with 17 points despite having played 10 games, two more than Bantu.

In the first of the two games at Setsoto Stadium, Matlama also edged Lijabatho 1-0 courtesy of a Phafa Tšosane goal. The win saw Tse Putsoa returning to second place with 18 points from eight matches. Lijabatho, on the other hand slid one place down to sixth with 16 points.

LCS’ title chase suffered a knock when they lost 2-1 to LMPS at LCS Ground. Nkau Lerotholi drew first blood for LMPS but the goal was later cancelled by Makara Ntaitsane before Monyatheli Ntobo scored the visitors’ winner. The win left LMPS one place better in seventh with 15 points.

LCS who has had a promising start to the season and were at one point at the summit of the table, are now fifth with 17 points after eight matches.

In the first match at LCS Ground, Liphakoe came from a goal down to register their first big win of the season beating Kick4Life 3-1. Patrick Nyargo, Thabiso Letseka and Neo Skosana were on target for Liphakoe while Relebohile Thulo scored for Kick4Life.

The Quthing outfit moved two steps up to ninth with 13 points from 10 matches. Kick4Life’s inconsistency let them four places worse off in 11th with 13 points from 10 matches.

In Nyakosoba, Swallows improved their chances of maintaining their status in the elite league beating Manonyane 3-1, the side’s second win of the season. Relebohile Ramahlele, Katleho Lekaka and Mohau Khali scored for the Mazenod outfit while Manonyane’s goal came from Teboha Posa.

The win saw Swallows move up to 13th position with seven points from nine matches while Manonyane remained in 12th with nine points from 10 matches.

In Maputsoe, Rethabile Selonyane scored a brace while Rethabile Rasethuntša scored one to help Linare emphatically beat Likhopo. This was Linare’s third successive win.

The Red Army on the other hand continued flirting with danger dropping one place closer to the relegation zone with six points.

CCX and LDF failed to produce goals at LCA Ground in Hlotse. The draw saw LDF move to third with 18 points from nine matches while CCX dropped one step to 10th with 13 points from 10 matches.

In Butha-Buthe, Lifofane had to come from a goal down to hold Sefotha-fotha to a one-all draw in a bottom of the table clash. Teboho Lebitsa scored for the visitors while Qhobela Mohlominyane scored for the visitors.

The result left the two sides’ positions unchanged with Lifofane remaining second from bottom with five points from 10 matches while Sefotha-fotha remained at the bottom with three points from same number of matches.
