MASERU — The Local Organising Committee of the upcoming Council of Southern African Football (COSAFA) under-20 competition set to be staged in Lesotho in December says it’s all system go ahead of today’s draw set for Maseru Sun.
The organising committee chairman, Lebohang Thotanyana, told a media briefing on Wednesday that preparations to host the regional competition are going very well.
“The preparations have been going very well and we are hoping that today’s draw will also be a success,” Thotanyana said.
“We started a bit late due to some financial problems, but things seem to have fallen back on track and I’m proud to tell the country that there have been some exciting developments over the past two weeks.
The tournament will be played across the three district of Maseru, Mafeteng and Mohale s Hoek.
He said all the stadiums to be used during the tourney are in good shape except some minor problems that will be fixed soon.
“We have to adjust the dressing rooms at the Mohale s Hoek stadium and have to make sure that the dressing rooms at the Seeiso Leshoboro Stadium also meet the standards of COSAFA,” said Thotanyana.
He said the grounds that will be used by all teams to hold their training sessions will also be upgrade.
“The grounds will be revealed once an inspection has been made and been given the approval to be used.
The two weeks tournament will get underway on December 3 and end on the 14th.
Fourteen member countries of COSAFA included champions, Zambia, are expected to take part in the Lesotho tournament.
Kenya is expected at the tournament as the guest team and will be joined by Angola, Botswana, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the home team, Lesotho.
