A SIXTEEN-year old Thaba-Tseka albino girl was mutilated last month in a suspected case of ritual killing.
According to police spokesperson, Senior Inspector Clifford Molefe, a suspect from Thaba-Tseka was in custody and assisting with investigations.
“It is true that a 16-year old Thaba-Tseka albino girl was mutilated and a woman from the same district was arrested in connection with the murder,” Sen Insp Molefe said.
Asked if the two were related, Sen Insp Molefe said the victim met the suspect at an initiation school where they were both initiates.
He, however, declined to disclose more details, saying it would compromise investigations.
“We are not in a position to disclose whether the crime was committed as a result of superstitious beliefs or not. All I can say is investigations are ongoing,” said Sen Insp Molefe.
“Once the investigations have been completed, the case will be brought before court and the offenders will face the wrath of the law.”
