Agency to mentor young professionals

By Lerato Matheka

MASERU — A local recruitment agency will next Thursday host a forum that seeks to mentor young Basotho professionals.
The event will be at Ster-Kinekor at the Pioneer Mall.
Staff Solutions coordinator, Paballo Mokoqo, said the forum is targeting young professionals between the ages of 23 and 35.
Mokoqo said this was because people in this age group were still eager to grow both personally and professionally.
Staff Solutions are looking to mentor the young professionals on how they can add value to their respective organisations as well as building their personal lives and developing future career plans.
Mokoqo said they had received numerous reports of unprofessionalism from local companies.
“Our clients all have the same problem of young professionals who are unprofessional and are finding it hard to adopt to change from university to the workplace,” she said.
“The forum is looking to bridge the gap of lack of career guidance for students when they leave school into the work places.”
The forum would discuss issues such as image and personal development, which cover setting and achieving personal goals, self-packaging and market segment.
It will also cover career management, career choice and development, experience, ethics, exposure and continued professional development.
The young professionals will also have time to learn more about communication skills and personal conduct relating to interviews.
“This is the first forum of its nature we have hosted and we are looking forward to hosting more in the near future,” Mokoqo said.
Local business and personal development consultant, Robert Likhang, is expected to be the keynote speaker at the event.
Vodacom Lesotho executive manager, Ts’abiso Letsoela, and Sigma Construction business consultant, Feko Makara, are also part of the guest speakers.
