GOSPEL group, Accapella Moments, have announced they will finally launch their long-awaited compilation album on 28 March 2015 at AME Hall in Maseru.

Accapella Moments is an eight-member, male a cappella group consisting of Retselisitsoe Mosaase, Bokang Monyamane, Masapo Mpiti, Lisema Mapetla, Bochabela Eric Mohlehle Letsie, Thabisang Mofammere, Thulane Babeli as well as the on and off duo of Septee Ntšonyane and David Motebang.

Formed in 2009, the group has been mesmerising fans with its unique, laid-back-yet-dynamic a cappella style. It draws inspiration from the way church hymns sung, without the aid of musical instruments.

“We come from an evangelical background and met at a church youth conference in Morija, back in 2009, where we realised we shared similar views regarding a cappella and that’s how the group was born,” group members said in an interview this past week.

“We were strongly motivated by the way hymns are sung in church and decided to adapt that style while adding our own vibrant twist.

“When it comes to a cappella, it is easier to tell whether people are in love with our music or not as it is simply made up of vocals rather than those with instruments in which one is not sure if fans love the beats or vocals.”

Accapella Moments has shared the stage with another popular gospel outfit, Kingdom Classics, and performed at a number of social gatherings, leaving fans spellbound by their smooth sounds. The rapturous response from fans spurred the compilation of the debut album Moment in Time.

The 16-track album has something for everyone; from comforting hymns to joyous songs. It consists of contemporary a cappella songs with the exciting twist of beat-boxing, rap and harmonic melodies. It also features renditions of old hymns such as Besuka and Ke Se Ke Utloile, as well as the group’s  own composition, A Song For You, in which every member tells his love story, is dedicated to someone special in their lives.

Moment in Time describes Accapella Moments in its essence, from inception to becoming a family up to this very moment, which is our time to shine. Our mission is to expose a ccapella to audiences used only to such genres as Hip Hop, RnB and Jazz which are popular within our vicinity,” he said.

“We used to just practice for performances, but with the pressure we got from our fans requesting our music, we had to come up with an album for them. We are not in this for the money or fame but for the love of singing, so everything else will just come as blessings from God.”
