A DIVISION north and south streams champions Sefotha-Fotha and Majantja will be hoping to atone for their poor showing in the A Division Top 8 Tournament when the lock horns in the Champion of Champions Cup at the Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena this afternoon.
Sefotha-Fotha were knocked out in the semi-finals of the A division Top 8 tournament while Majantja went out in the quarter finals.
Sefotha-Fotha coach Tiisetso Molete recently told the Sunday Express that the battle lines had been drawn ahead of the clash.
“This is going to be a tough match because the clubs will be meeting to decide the real A division champions and my charges are ready for the task,” Molete said on Friday.
“We were very disappointed that we didn’t do well in the Top 8 because after winning promotion (to the premier league) all eyes were on us.
“This match is our chance to prove our worth to the football community and leave our mark on the A division. This is not really a good time because it is cold and we have a few injuries but I am certain we will prevail,” he said.
He however, said Majantja would not be pushovers as they were also a ball-playing team with the similar style to their own.
Majantja coach, Retšelisitsoe Matsepe echoed Molete’s sentiments, adding they had prepared well for the encounter.
“We didn’t play well in the Top 8 last month and we were left with an egg on our face given that our supporters expected more from us after a very good season that saw us win promotion into the premier league.
“But this time things are going to be different as we have prepared well and can’t afford to lose the match,” Matsepe said.
Matsepe said complacency was their biggest problem in the top 8 and they could not afford to repeat the same mistake.
“We were complacent in the last tournament. Winning promotion to the premier league got into our heads but this time all the players understand what is expected of them,” Matsepe said.
