KHUBETSOANA-BASED Club 4Fordy will on Thursday hold a show celebrating the exploits of rappers Jiji F and L-Tore over the course of this year.
According to 4Fordy co-owner, Raohang Lehobo, the show is called #WeAreHiphop and is meant to celebrate the feats of the two MCs, who managed to make waves in Lesotho and beyond in 2015.
Since the release of his debut album, Maluti Green Capital, earlier this year, Jiji F made a special guest appearance on South African prime time soapie, Rhythm City, in August with his music played on the Mzansi Magic television channel last month. Jiji F also toured with prominent South African rapper, Reason, and won the Best Music Video accolade at the Ultimate Music Awards last weekend.
On his part, L-Tore won the top prize in the fourth edition of the Vodacom Superstars talent search competition held on 10 October 2015. In addition to the cash prize of M70 000, the rapper also won the opportunity to record a single with South African producer Oskido at his Kalawa Jazmee studio. After impressing during the recording session at the Midrand-based studio, L-Tore ended up recording three tracks and collaborating with the stable’s premier artist AB Crazy.
Lehobo said the gig was also meant to appreciate the efforts of local Hip Hop artists in helping raise the profile of Club 4Fordy.
“We have come a long way with the support of local acts who perform at 4Fordy every week, so it is only befitting that we show our appreciation for their hard work,” he told Xpress People last week.
“#WeAreHiphop is basically about celebrating Hip Hop, which is the most played genre at the club. The show is an opportunity for Hip Hop lovers to enjoy the best of what the genre offers in Lesotho.”
The show, Lehobo said, would be held “at least twice a year” featuring artists who would be trending at the time.
“We are starting by hosting L-Tore and Jiji F because they are the most prominent Hip Hop acts in the country at the moment because of their achievements,” he said.
“I cannot say they are the best, but they have been putting in a lot of effort hence our decision to celebrate their achievements with them. “We are on a mission to promote local artists and make them feel appreciated.”
The duo will be supported by such artists as Ebonics, Individual Max, Nine24, Untitled DJ, DaStarr, Osmic, The Hitman, Black DJ and comedian MsL Relo.
